Harry “Smiler” Codlington, Home Guardsman and ex-Bus Driver
Harry Codlington was always one of life’s great optimists and would always find the bright side of any and every situation. He loved driving his number 58 bus from Backwell to Macclesfield despite the twisty lanes and narrow roads that put so many of his colleagues off.
When WW3 broke out from the Cuban Missile Crisis, even his cheery demeanour was tested but after he drove his bus through the Arbor Low Temporal Rift, packed full of evacuees and their meagre possessions, it soon perked up. They were stranded in Dark Age England and they were trapped between warring Norse and Anglo-Saxon Armies but the weather was mild for the time of year and the air so crisp and clear!
Harold is now a member of the home Guard tasked with helping to defend the colony from roaming bandits, a job he does with more enthusiasm than skill. One this bright morning he is off to patrol down by the river, a dull route that never has any excitement...
